This article briefly discusses allegations of abuse and rape.
Armie Hammer has revealed that he’s selling his truck because he can no longer afford to pay for gas.
For some quick context, several disturbing allegations — including abuse and rape — were made against Armie by multiple women at the beginning of 2021. His talent agency subsequently dropped him, and he also withdrew from starring in the film Shotgun Wedding alongside Jennifer Lopez.
Armie has repeatedly denied the allegations made against him.
A year after the controversy unfolded online, a source claimed to Variety that Armie was “totally broke” and working as a timeshare salesperson in the Cayman Islands, where his ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers, and kids were based.
“He is working at the resort and selling timeshares. He is working at a cubicle. The reality is he’s totally broke and is trying to fill the days and earn money to support his family,” the insider said, later adding that Armie was not being financially supported by his family. If you didn’t know, Armie is the great-grandson of oil tycoon Armand Hammer.
Meanwhile, Armie’s lawyer told Entertainment Weekly: “I can't confirm or deny it because Armie hasn't addressed it. I just think it's shitty that, if he is selling timeshares, the media is shaming him for having a 'normal job.' What's the story here?”
Around the same time, another source alleged to Vanity Fair that actor Robert Downey Jr. had paid for Armie to spend six months in a rehabilitation center in Florida.
Fast-forward to today, and Armie has revealed that he’s having to sell his beloved 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali pickup truck because he can no longer afford to drive it.
Sharing a new video to his Instagram page, Armie began, “So, I’ve been back in LA for a couple of weeks now. This is my truck. I bought this for myself in 2017 as a Christmas gift for myself.”
“I have loved this truck intensely and taken it camping and across the country multiple times and on long roadtrips, and I took it for one last road trip to CarMax,” he said.
“This is because I’m selling my truck. Since being back in LA, I have put about 4 or 500 dollars worth of gas in it, and I can’t afford it. I can’t afford the gas anymore,” he admitted.
However, Armie went on to note that he’s bought a new car that is much more cost-efficient.
“But you know what? That’s OK. I got a new car. It’s tiny. It’s a hybrid. I’m probably gonna put about 10 bucks of gas in it a month,” he said.
“Here’s to new beginnings,” he added.
