This is Amelia Dimoldenberg.
Amelia is a British media personality known for her iconic red carpet interviews and aptly-named YouTube series Chicken Shop Date, in which she takes renowned celebrities to chicken shops around London for hilariously awkward “dates.”
And while Amelia’s charm has resulted in several cute, viral moments with different celebrities, fans were left shook when she interviewed none other than Andrew Garfield on two separate occasions last year.
Firstly, the pair got chatting at GQ’s Men of the Year awards, where Amelia admitted to the Spider-Man actor that she’d been trying to get him on Chicken Shop Date for a while. Months later, they reunited at the Golden Globes, and their flirty red carpet exchange quickly went viral.
From Andrew casually grabbing Amelia’s hand mid-interview to the pair repeatedly bursting into fits of laughter, fans picked up on several telltale signs that sparks were flying between them.
And so, fans have practically begged Amelia to get Andrew on Chicken Shop Date ever since.
Well, fans’ wishes were finally answered last week, when Andrew — who recently split from his girlfriend Kate Tomas after a few months of dating — appeared on an episode of Chicken Shop Date ahead of the UK release of his film We Live in Time. And needless to say, it’s one of the best I’ve ever watched.
The chemistry between Andrew and Amelia was palpable. Like, just look at the way he looked at her within the first few seconds:
And yes, the vibes were mutual:
In fact, Andrew quickly addressed the chemistry between himself and Amelia, telling her, “We’ve had a couple of lovely interactions… Come on, we can own that it’s been vibey.”
She replied, “Yeah, it’s been vibey to the point that you’ve been avoiding me for two years because the vibes were too much.” 👀👀👀
At one point, Amelia asked Andrew who he’d snog, marry, and avoid out of herself, Tom Holland, and Tobey Maguire. He told her he’d avoid her, but not before quickly adding: “This is called flirting, Amelia!”
Andrew also repeatedly showered Amelia with compliments. When she shared that she frequently makes the first move and asks guys out, he said, “I think that’s sexy. I think that’s really hot.” Later, when she made him laugh for the millionth time, he looked directly into her eyes and told her, “You are funny. You’re a funny person.”
The rest of the video was pretty much Andrew and Amelia questioning the logistics of whether they could actually date IRL.
“We’ve had two meet-cutes,” Andrew said. When Amelia then seemingly tried staying in character, he told her, “I’m gonna be myself, and I need you to know me, fully.”
“I actually believe that maybe we could’ve [gone on a date without the cameras],” Andrew said, noting that he’s a very “private” person.
Andrew later said (again), “I think we’d have a really nice time without the cameras. I think we’d just enjoy each other’s company.”
Amelia then casually reminded Andrew that he has her number because he asked for it at a party. “I did,” he confirmed.
“I feel like this should be a practice round,” he said of the date. “I feel like we should do it again actually, and better.”
The video, which has already amassed over 6 million views, has taken the internet by storm. Here are just some of the best reactions:
“this video is either an absolute masterclass in acting or a public declaration of true love, there's no in between,” one person commented on YouTube.
People have even started speculating that Andrew and Amelia are secretly an item.
“So we definitely just watched them on a real date trying to act like it’s a fake date,” one more user wrote.
